Jackie Bailey – Supporting Kids’ Voices

Sometimes, the thing that holds us back from realizing our genius is having the courage and skill to share it.  This week’s guest on the Realizing Genius Podcast helps kids find their voice.

After the trauma of childhood abuse,  today Jackie Bailey is the founder and executive director of The Speak Feed Lead Project, which has empowered hundreds of children, teens, and adults with confident, courageous voices shared on global stages, competitions, podcasts, and books. As an award-winning team-builder, educator, leader, and coach, Jackie has been a featured speaker at corporate events at Microsoft, Smith-Barney, Puget Sound Energy, Fred Hutch Cancer Care Alliance, and at mega events like The Voices of Women Summit, Family Matters Summit, Health Wealth Wisdom, and The Best You Expo where she shared stages with Marissa Peer, Mas Sajadi, Bernardo Moya, Bill Walsh, and Kim Serafini.

Jackie shares resources and opportunities for your kids and you to gain the confidence to share your voice.

A Little Bit about Artificial Intelligence

I’ve been researching technology and its pros and cons and thought I’d share some of the “aha’s” I’ve had about Artificial Intelligence.  People have calmed down a little about AI, but when ChatGPT first came out, there were so many fearful posts and articles.   I know there is still a lot of misunderstanding and confusion about it.

If we look back at history, there have been many times when new innovations are vilified because people don’t know how to use them effectively. Once we get over that hump, they just become normal.  Just in my lifetime, I’ve seen computers, the internet, and cell phones change the way we live.

When it comes to education, AI is something homeschoolers can embrace.  Hopefully other education systems will eventually, because whoever does, will give their kids a distinct advantage!  Learn a bit more about AI in this week’s episode!

Christina Werner – Supporting Our Values

You know what I love? Supporting businesses that are run by homeschool families! These folks are committed to certain principles and always put their kids first, which really means something to me. So, let me tell you about something really cool I discovered this week!

I had the chance to chat with Christina Werner about PublicSq.com, and let me tell you, it’s awesome. PublicSq. is a community that’s all about supporting certain values and helping you do the same. They’re all about being pro-life, family-oriented, and freedom-loving – pretty great, right?

Christina is a former public school teacher and mom of two, and she was thrown into homeschooling during the pandemic, just as she started working with Public Sq. But you know what? She used the resources on the app to help her find the tools and tips she needed to homeschool her kids. How cool is that?!

Nate Noorlander – Making History Engaging

Nate Noorlander, from the Nomadic Professor, joined me for this week’s episode.  The Nomadic Professor is an online, non-partisan, high school history courses that teach students the core narrative and all of its accompanying skills: taking notes, making original judgments, reasoning with evidence, reading between the lines, following a rubric, writing a defensible argument, working with bias, and much, much more.

I love talking history, especially when we can go deeper and see the connections that can be found.  Nate didn’t disappoint!  He has lived a fascinating life and has been a bit nomadic himself!  Be sure to listen where he and his family got caught during COVID!  I’m surprised he got out!
