Mandi Frost – The Benefits of Finding a Coach for Your Teen

Hey there! I’m excited to share with you an upcoming podcast episode where I chat with Mandi Frost, an academic coach who partners with parents to coach students.

What’s interesting is that Mandi doesn’t just coach students – she also coaches parents. She believes that a three-way partnership is crucial for success when working with a child. That way, everyone is on the same page, and the child can get the support they need both at home and with their coach.

But there’s a delicate balance between confidentiality and communication with parents. Mandi shares how she navigates this and ensures that the student feels comfortable with her while also keeping parents in the loop.

As a homeschooler, I’ve struggled with making summers productive for my kids. And it turns out, I’m not alone. Mandi has some parent workshops coming up, and she talks about how these workshops can help parents coach their child to be more productive during the summer while also building a stronger relationship with them.

Mandi also talks about how coaching parents to be more like a coach than a boss can lead to more cooperation and better outcomes for everyone involved.

If you’re a homeschooler or a parent looking for ways to support your child’s academic success, you won’t want to miss this episode. Mandi has so much knowledge and experience to share, and I guarantee you’ll come away with some valuable insights.

Mandi is from Zimbabwe and home-educated her three young adult sons, two of which had learning challenges. Children learn best through multisensory, hands-on experiences as they delight in their learning through “real life” connections that build confidence and life skills. As a certified academic life coach, career coach, and parent coach, Mandi created coach programs to support (tw)teens in healthy mindsets towards resilient confidence and healthy independence so they make better choices and build strategies to manage their lives responsibly. Mandi is a speaker at educational conferences & summits, encouraging parents how to build self-directed learners who are strong in their faith, lead with confidence and relationship. Mandi partners with parents in “The Coach Approach,”- shifting from boss-manager-parent to curious-coach-parent – for more connection and relationship. The Home Harmony Academy provides parents with coach strategies on how to guide and equip their family in making healthier life choices, encouraging respectful responses, building better time management and focus so children manage their lives confidently with accountability as they work together to honor God. When Mandi is not coaching, she is reading, studying her Bible, walking in the mountains, road-tripping, or soaking up the sun.
