Julia Booker, with Booker’s Book Nook, is a Brand Partner with PaperPie and is on a mission to improve the literacy crisis in our community. At PaperPie, “We gather for good around literacy and learning.” Julia aims to support the community through events such as her Literacy Littles Story & Craft Time and free community storytimes at Fit4Mom East Contra Costa, fundraisers, speaking about the importance of literacy to local groups, and popping up at local vendor events to help families bring new books into their homes. For the last five years, Julia has hosted an annual book drive fundraiser to raise money to provide new books for children experiencing foster care in CCC. The past two years, she has brought in enough donations to provide over 1,200 new high quality, engaging, and educational books – one for each child in care in the county. Julia has worked directly with children for over 20 years as a dance educator, substitute teacher, instructional assistant, and religious education teacher. Currently, when she’s not sharing some of the best children’s literature available, she is busy homeschooling her two energetic boys. Julia seeks to foster connection in families, one book at a time.
